RETIREMENT NOTICE:

BUTCHERS, BANKERS, BAKERS, THEY’VE ALL COME TO ME. DELINQUENTS, CHEATS, SWINDLERS, oh yes, I’ve seen them all. Just a tiny bit underneath this wonderful city’s polished surface exists a very hot, seething layer of discontent. Troubled souls all seeking absolution, and in dire need of my ministrations. If only things could be made right again, they think, this life would be a little easier; forgiveness of sorts granted and genuinely felt. Oh, the Prevaricators, the Dissemblers, and the many Idlers that have come before me all have similar tales of woe and regret, especially when seeing my cane.  If only this, if only that. The down-and-out Aristocrats, the many self-proclaimed Defenders of the Disenfranchised, the Men of Science, the Merchants, Industrialists, Capitalists, and one very obsessed, delusional individual.

My term as Toronto’s Chief Disciplinarian has drawn to a close. Yes, I am retiring. I have accomplished much with this huge cast of characters, but there still remains more to do.  I leave that to the younger would-be disciplinarians now making their way through the ranks, -- some with exceptional abilities.  This has been a most incredible part of my own career, and I would like to thank all those who helped and (especially) hindered me in my aspirations. I wouldn’t change a thing, and I regret nothing. New endeavours beckon, and I will turn my fullest attention to them now.

Sending all my best wishes to those whose lives I’ve touched,

Ms Rebecca Sharp
